Expect to see picket lines if you're driving in the east end near Boundary Road Tuesday afternoon as community members are set to rally there to oppose plans to build a landfill there.
The Capital Regional Citizens Coalition for the Protection of the Environment is against the proposed landfill that would cover 400 acres and accept 450-thousand tonnes of waste each year.

The National Capital Commission is asking for public input as it plans a future for Nepean Point that will make the Ottawa landmark “a world-class site for generations to come.
”The NCC is holding a workshop Thursday night at its Elgin Street headquarters in which “participants will be asked to reflect on a vision for the site, themes, objectives and guiding principles.”

The National Capital Commission has embarked on a “strategic planning exercise” aimed at improving its popular 44-year-old Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays program. In 2013, about 290,000 individual cyclists and in-line skaters took advantage of the Sunday morning closures of more than 50 kilometres of NCC parkways.
Many made multiple visits, pushing the total number of visits to 890,000. The 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. closures, which continue until Labour Day, include westbound lanes on the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, both lanes of Colonel By Drive on the east side of the Rideau Canal and both lanes of the Rockcliffe Parkway from the Aviation Parkway to St. Joseph Boulevard in Orléans.
