The Ottawa-Centre NDP candidate is getting some help from her federal counterpart Paul Dewar and promising millions of dollars for cycling projects.On Tuesday morning along the O-Train pathway, Jennifer McKenzie said her party will commit $39 million over three years, compared to the Liberal's promise of $25 million over the same time period.

A decision on a proposed nine-storey building in Kanata was deferred Tuesday at planning committee for two weeks to give the community’s venerable founder Bill Teron time to design something nearby residents might like better.
The committee was considering a rezoning application for 1131 Teron Road, where Phillip Bottriel wants to build a stepped, mid-rise building that transitions from three to nine storeys, and a three-storey apartment building, on two parcels of land wedged between Teron and March roads. The smaller piece of land is currently occupied by a single detached home; the other is undeveloped.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson says the city has learned a lesson and plans to do better handling garbage at Ottawa Race Weekend after complaints about piles of waste being left throughout the downtown core overnight.
"Well I saw lots of garbage bins overflowing — there's no question about that — all throughout the area where the race weekend was. And it's certainly a lesson for us that we have to work more closely with the organizers to make sure we have bigger bins," Watson said in an interview with Ottawa Morning radio host Hallie Cotnam on Monday.
