Colour will be lacking in many shade gardens this summer, thanks to a blight
that wiped out the widely popular impatiens last year. Barb Ellison of Creekside
Gardens in Richmond says it was a “downy mildew” that destroyed the annual shade
flowers — aka walleriana impatiens — last year. “It’s an airborne spore that
