Glebe residents argued that a new restaurant patio could create a "smoking and drinking" gateway to their street or result in patrons being hit my malfunctioning vehicles before the transportation committee approved the patio on July 2. The new patio for Erling's Variety on Strathcona Avenue comes with conditions.
It will have to be closed and cleared by 9 p.m. and the patio license won't be transferable to another business that could take over at that location in the future. The owner of Erling's will install a screen to separate the east side of the patio from the next-door neighbour.

Calling in to CFRA Wednesday afternoon the general manager of Orgaworld, Dale Harley, said there are misconceptions that need to be set straight.
Harley said, for starters, Orgaworld is capable of processing 100,000 tonnes of organic waste each year, something they've proven by meeting targets over the past three months.

Familiar components at Lansdowne Park will soon return to normal.
City council is approving the required licence for the Ottawa Farmers' Market, which currently operates at Brewer Park due to the ongoing construction.
Councillors are also green-lighting reinstating the heritage status of the 100-year-old Horticulture Building.

The city health department has thrown up the red flag for swimmers at Westboro and Petrie Island River beaches Tuesday.
Westboro is closed due to elevated E. coli bacteria counts, while the Petrie Island River site is shut due to rainfall.
