Completion of a 56-km pathway is one of seven priority projects the NCC has identified for the National Capital Region Greenbelt. It's a key component of the National Capital Commission's 2013 Greenbelt Master Plan GMP, which includes a total of 279 recommendations. The sign on a temporary fence erected at end of Cahill Drive West to keep people out of the adjacent construction site says the project will be completed by December 2014. Given all the delays and drama that have surrounded the construction of the Airport Parkway pedestrian and cycling bridge, you’d forgive people if they were hedging their bets. Mayor Jim Watson said Wednesday that it wasn’t ironic for him to criticize Uber after announcing a special day to celebrate entrepreneurs because the innovative ride-sharing company isn’t following the rules.“ Whole Foods just arrived here. Dozens of people attended a public meeting in Kemptville Tuesday evening on the proposed multi-billion dollar Energy East pipeline. If approved, the $12 billion pipeline would travel across the Rideau River and through parts of Ottawa's West and South end and surrounding communities, transporting more than one million barrels of crude per day. TransCanada is holding an open house in Kemptville this evening on the controversial Energy East Pipeline, which would see crude oil transported from the oil sands in Alberta to refineries in Quebec and New Brunswick.

.A number of Ottawa-area groups opposed to the 12-billion dollar project, including Ecology Ottawa are slated to attend.

Ben Powless with Ecology Ottawa tells CFRA they want to learn more about a leaked marketing plan that would allegedly see TransCanada use third-party voices to discredit their oponents.

"We're going to ask them some questions about, you know, ... whether they intend to go into the records of our volunteers, whether they intend to go after grannies who give us money every month to continue doing the work that we're doing," said Powless.

Ecology Ottawa and the Council of Canadians are among a number of groups that plan to attend Tuesday’s open house meeting in Kemptville on the the proposed $12-billion Energy East pipeline, which would cut through the south end of Ottawa and through North Grenville. Weather office warns of heavy flurries, poor driving conditions

Environment Canada said bands of heavy flurries moving across the Bancroft — Bon Echo Park, Barry’s Bay, Killaloe and Renfrew and Arnprior — Calabogie regions on Tuesday night were expected to move southward through Eastern Ontario.
