Three new cigarette bins are being installed in Vanier in the hopes of keeping the butts out of the waste stream. It's a projected funded by Quartier Vanier, the BIA for the area.

The bins, which can hold 20,000 cigarette butts were designed and made by CigBins, a local entrepreneurial company that got its start through HubOttawa. They will handle all of the services for the bins as well.

If we want to make dangerous intersections like Woodroffe and West Hunt Club safer, it'll take the public's help.

That's the message from Ottawa Police.

Const. Andrew Jasiak with West Division Traffic told CFRA part of the problem at the city's most dangerous intersections is people aren't paying close enough attention, or are driving while distracted.
