A developer has to stabilize parts of a Lowertown building, demolish other parts, and pay the City of Ottawa, according to a court order handed down earlier this month.

Residents in Overbrook have had a chance to express their concerns about construction in the area.
City presenters spoke to a crowd at the Overbrook Community Centre Thursday night about LRT construction and how it affects residents.
Sheila Perry, a former president of the Overbrook Community Association, tells CTV Ottawa the construction has caused problems, but the end result should be worth it.

Ottawa is sticking to its guns, saying it does not agree with Transport Canada that there was a threat to public safety when an OC Transpo double decker bus stopped too closely to an oncoming train at Fallowfield on December 6th.
Transport Canada asked the city to review the safety of the crossing, but the city is adamant the driver made the correct decision.

Algonquin College students have overwhelmingly voted in favour of the U-Pass.
During a referendum this week 83 per cent of those who cast their ballots voted in favour of the pass.That means students would pay just shy of $200 per semester for unlimited OC Transpo use starting next year.

For a while there, it really did seem as if the National Capital Commission and the city of Ottawa had kissed and made up, that they had patched their often-rocky relationship and were ready to, if not always agree, at least put on a good face for the sake of the kids of the capital.
The NCC’s CEO Mark Kristmanson — who’s made such a positive impression on the city in the past nine months with his singular brand of pragmatic braininess — has brought a new sense of co-operation and openness to the NCC’s role in the capital region.
