OTTAWA — The bird feeders are gone from Gatineau Park’s ski trails, causing a flap among some skiers and bird-lovers.
Feeders had hung near lodges along the trails for many years. This winter they don’t.

With so many security cameras dotting the lobby area and underground garage of the Halcyon, a west-end condominium, residents should be excused if they are constantly looking over their shoulders.

A 54-year-old OC Transpo bus driver has been charged with running a red light, following a collision Wednesday on Woodroffe near West Hunt Club Road.
Police allege the double decker, route 76, ran the light around 7:40 and was struck by a car.

OTTAWA — Last weekend’s major upgrade to OC Transpo’s fare-card system went just about perfectly, says the man in charge of the Presto system, and only a few quirks remain to be fixed.
“I say that quite honestly that, to us, it was literally a perfect roll-through on the weekend,” said Robert Hollis, executive-vice president of the provincial Metrolinx transit agency. The weekend of work was preceded by 10 months of planning, then a weeklong freeze on ordering new cards online. Presto closed off online access to people’s accounts entirely on the weekend.

OTTAWA — The entire 7.8 km of the Rideau Canal Skateway was opened Thursday after being closed since the weekend.
However, experts who checked out the ice conditions overnight have recommend using caution between Fifth Avenue and Bronson. Certain sections of this area are categorized as poor and the NCC has put up signs and barricades to help users safely navigate around these sections.
