OTTAWA — Mayor Jim Watson greeted details of the federal government’s $14-billion infrastructure fund unveiled on Thursday with optimism, but said he’s concerned a new screening requirement could delay a much-needed project to reduce untreated sewage being dumped into the Ottawa River.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper unveiled details of the new Building Canada Fund on Thursday. Initially announced in the 2013 budget, the plan is slated to be launched on April 1 to replace an expiring infrastructure fund launched in 2007.
