OTTAWA — The City of Gatineau issued a “preventive” boil water advisory Saturday for the Masson-Angers and Buckingham sectors after it was found that some water supplies might have been in contact with a “non-disinfected reservoir at the Buckingham water plant.”
The advisory affects an estimated 27,500 people.

It looks like the groundhogs were right.
Environment Canada released its seasonal forecast for Spring on Saturday and said that relief from the frigid cold winter temperatures is still a ways off.
The extended forecast, which is released four times a year, expects temperatures in Ottawa, as well as much of Eastern Canada, will continue to be well below seasonal norms for the next few months.

OTTAWA — The shelving of $15 billion worth of new power reactors is just a bump in Ontario’s long-term nuclear energy strategy, Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli assured Canada’s struggling nuclear industry Friday.

OTTAWA — Blowing snow Thursday night was expected to cause whiteout conditions, and Environment Canada was advising drivers to be ready for low visibility and hazardous driving.
A band of flurries, heavy at times, was expected to move into the Ottawa, Gatineau and Cornwall areas Thursday evening, quickly bringing two to four centimetres of snow in some places and reducing visibility to 250 metres or less.

We're simply not using enough water in Ottawa and that's left the city short $13 million in water and waste water revenue last year.
The shortage is being blamed on 2013's wet summer.
The detailed report, released Tuesday night, outlining the short-falls will go to the Finance and Economic Development Committee next week.
