But the consortium building the rail system is regrouping to figure out how to make up for time lost because of the Rideau Street sinkhole — and how to meet its deadline for the massive project.

'Right now I'm not going to say anything because that's something that we're looking into.' - Peter Lauch, Rideau Transit Group

According to the technical director of the Rideau Transit Group, officials are still looking at how to "mitigate" the effects of the June 8 sinkhole that resulted in a gaping crater just east of Sussex Drive.

Photo radar: They’re grabbing our cash

Re: Wynne says cities pushed for return of photo radar, Nov. 9.

Ah, the cookie jar. If we could only trust our municipal politicians to keep their greedy fingers out of it. Photo radar in school zones – it is all about the kids, isn’t it? We have, after all, a pandemic of kids getting hit by vehicles in Ottawa school zones. Or was it people stabbed near the market? Or bikers hit on bike lanes? I could find plenty about the latter, one report about the former. But what do I know?

Incident in LRT tunnel not a collapse, city insists
CTV Ottawa News

By CTV News Ottawa, November 10, 2016

Three workers were trapped in Ottawa's light rail transit tunnel near Waller Street and Laurier Avenue on Thursday after some concrete came loose and fell.

The three workers were in a 'safe zone' about 200 metres from the tunnel's entrance for about an hour. One suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital; the others were unharmed.

While police initially called the incident a "tunnel collapse," Mayor Jim Watson later said at the scene that it was not a tunnel collapse; rather, workers were spraying concrete in a part of the tunnel and some rebar came loose and fell down.
