COVID-19: Ontario allows community gardens to help boost food supply

By Jacquie Miller, Ottawa Citizen, April 25, 2020

(...)Ontario has decided to allow community and allotment gardens across the province.

The gardens are an essential source of fresh food for many families, including those who face food insecurity, the province said Saturday in announcing a revision to emergency orders around COVID-19.

“Local medical officers of health will provide advice, recommendation and instructions that the gardens must meet in order to operate, such as physical distancing, and cleaning and disinfecting commonly used equipment and surfaces,” said the release.
