The National Capital Commission is showing bold leadership by opening part of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway to cyclists and pedestrians for nine days. In both directions, one might add. Let’s just pray that the public does not abuse the privilege it has been granted.
Don’t for one moment think that the NCC is encouraging irresponsible road wandering. This is a carefully controlled, scientific pilot project. NCC boss Tobi Nussbaum says the “performance metrics” used to gauge the success of the project will involve two important concepts.
