Speed limit reduction in Glebe, Ottawa South could create more accidents: City of Ottawa staff

Residents in the Glebe and Ottawa South want traffic to slow down in their neighbourhoods, but City of Ottawa staff members say that might actually cause an increase in collisions.

Capital ward City Councillor Shawn Menard is planning to table a motion at the city's next Transportation Committee meeting to reduce the speed limits to 30 km/hr in the area, but a report from the city's Transportation Services department says reducing the speed limit will do nothing to curb the way people drive in the area, and could result in more crashes.
