Bug expert predicting 'huge summer for mosquitoes' in Ottawa

By 1310 News, June 1, 2019

It looks like Ottawa is going to be in for a hard and bug-filled summer.

"We are going to have a tough season and the reason for that is there is so much standing water and so much rainfall and continues to come and the standing water is not going away," says Thom Bourne, the president and general manager of Mosquito.Buzz of Ottawa. "It's breeding grounds galore for the mosquitoes. We have all these female mosquitoes right now, looking for places to breed, getting into the mud, getting into the standing water, laying a hundred eggs every couple of days."

"This is going to be a huge year for mosquitoes in the City of Ottawa," he adds.
