Capital region in for warm, 'classic summer'

By Mike Vlasveld, 1310 News, May 23, 2018

Environment Canada is not ready to release it's official summer forecast yet, but models are showing warmer than normal temperatures with much less rain than last year in the Ottawa area.

Senior Climatologist David Phillips told The Rick Gibbons Show on 1310 NEWS, temperatures are expected to be above average across the country this summer -- Ottawa Valley included.

"We had, last year, record wet in Ottawa. It was cool at times," he said. "The number I often go by is the number of days above 30 C. That's often the character of the summer -- if you have lots of days above 30 C, then people think, 'Woah, that was a hot summer.'"
