City council will soon hear a clear message from Crystal Beach residents: rail maintenance yards shouldn't be built near homes, especially when other options exist.
A survey conducted by the local community association drew more than 600 responses and shows roughly 90 per cent of respondents think a proposed maintenance yard should be located on the west side of Moodie Drive. The planned extension of light rail to Moodie Drive means the city will need a light maintenance yard somewhere near the terminus for overnight cleaning and upkeep of trains.
