Earlier this year, a sinkhole swallowed a fire engine in California, after biblical-style rain and storms caused $1 billion in damage.
The Arctic Circle saw temperatures above freezing in November, peaking at 20 C higher than normal. Recent flooding and mudslides in Peru, caused by warmer Pacific waters, levelled 14,000 homes and left at least 150,000 people homeless.
Experts have pointed out that Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort could be partly underwater by the end of the century. Trump recently signed an executive order to roll back climate change policies and promote coal.
