Reevely: Mayor stomps on dissent over downtown truck tunnel
Ottawa Citizen

By David Reevely, Ottawa Citizen, September 7, 2016

Count on paying to use a new traffic tunnel connecting Highway 417 and the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge to Gatineau that’ll only get built if the provincial and federal governments agree to pay for it.

Although the city government is committed to finding a way to reduce truck traffic on Rideau Street and King Edward Avenue, it’s budgeted no money for building or operating any way of doing it. Certainly not for a kilometres-long tunnel under Lowertown and Sandy Hill that could cost up to $2 billion.
