The city is commissioning a safety audit of Laurier Avenue after a cyclist died there in a collision with a truck last week.

Mayor Jim Watson announced the safety audit after meeting with cycling and pedestrian advocates at city hall Wednesday.

Other initiatives, such as posting yield signs on Laurier Avenue, could be done within weeks. Installing rounded mirrors at intersections to show oncoming cyclists would need to be approved by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
