The iconic waterway flowing through the heart of Ottawa has turned a mysterious shade of green and officials are trying to get to the bottom of it.
The hue of the majestic Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has prompted a visit Wednesday from the province’s environment ministry to try to determine why the water resembles that in the infamous diving pool in Rio de Janeiro during the summer Olympics that puzzled athletes and spectators alike.
