Earlier this week, my 16-year-old daughter described a pretty classic, late-summer Ottawa day in which she went to her high school to pick out a locker and get her Presto card for the coming year. Afterwards, she joined friends for some Parliament Hill yoga and an après-stretch chocolate milk in the Byward Market.

Then she told me she cycled from the market back to our home in Sandy Hill — and my heart skipped a beat.

What?!? Across King Edward Avenue and Rideau Street?!?
