City to consider extending beach season

With near-record temperatures keeping Ottawa in a sweaty haze in mid-August, it seemed silly that the city’s official beach season ended Aug. 16 with two weeks left before school starts and plenty of warm weather in the forecast. That’s why Gloucester-Southgate Coun. Diane Deans, chairwoman of the community and protective services committee, asked city staff to take another look at the official beach season to see if it can be extended or changed to better fit Ottawa’s summer weather. via City to consider extending beach season.
