Anyone working on the LRT file at City Hall was waiting on -- or crossing their
fingers for -- two major announcements in 2009 and 2010. The city needed the
federal and provincial governments to provide money for Ottawa's first phase of
LRT. No money meant no expansion to the municipal rail service, no downtown
tunnel and no hope to reduce the bus congestion downtown. via
