The City of Ottawa spent at least $12 million to recreate a section of west
Wellington Street, with full rebuilds underground, interlock sidewalks, traffic
calming, whimsical public art, flower boxes and matching metal furnishings. And,
with all this dressing up, a cycling nightmare. With wider walkways, parking on
both sides, two driving lanes, there is simply nowhere for the bicycles to take
refuge. So conflict abounds. via
