A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Ottawa and the area southwest of
the city, with some areas also under a tornado watch, according to Environment
Canada. The alert on the Environment Canada website said that “meteorologists
are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts,
dime to nickel size hail and heavy rain” throughout Ottawa, Smiths Falls, Perth
and Eastern Lanark County. via
