Parks Canada spending $40M to shore up crumbling Rideau Canal

Moving to address years of neglect, the federal government will spend nearly $40 million over the next five years to repair and replace crumbling infrastructure along the 183-year-old Rideau Canal. Monday’s announcement by Leona Aglukkaq, the minister responsible for Parks Canada, goes part way to addressing $104 million in deferred maintenance and repairs along the 202-kilometre UNESCO world heritage site identified in a 2012 asset review. via Parks Canada spending $40M to shore up crumbling Rideau Canal | Ottawa Citizen.
