Taxi drivers are looking to put the brakes on any rule changes that could give
start-up companies like Uber a free ride in Ottawa. The city’s community and
protective services committee gave staff the go-ahead on May 21 to review taxi
and limousine regulations in an effort to catch up to “emerging technologies,”
or the arrival of Uber and other app-based transportation companies that operate
outside the city’s highly-regulated taxi industry. via
