The musicians who’ve threatened to pull out of Kemptville’s upcoming Dandelion Festival to protest a sponsorship donation from TransCanada Corp. are putting personal politics ahead of the community as a whole, says the festival’s chairman. (...) They do have some support. A local environment group, Ecology Ottawa, applauds the musicians for their stance.

“It reminds me of the days when musicians came together to launch a cultural boycott of South African Apartheid,” wrote Graham Saul, executive director of Ecology Ottawa, in a news release Sunday. “Musicians are saying they aren’t going to play for oil and pipelines.”
