A 20-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after
going over a knee-high wall on the Rideau Canal walkway along Colonel By
Drive Wednesday evening. Ottawa Paramedics had to clamber down into the
still-empty canal in response to an 8:15 p.m. report of a man on bike tumbling
off the path that runs along waterway near the Heron Road Bridge. They found him
lying in the canal suffering from a serious head injury. via
