It’s hard to remember the last time five centimetres caused this much trouble.
The sidewalk — or “raised safety curb,” depending on whom you ask — on the
Eagleson Road highway overpass is a few inches too narrow for the city plows, a
failing that was only recently noticed by pedestrians struggling to cross. The
Ministry of Transportation refurbished the overpass that spans Highway 417 last
year, and it wasn’t until the snow fell that the city realized it couldn’t use
its usual snow-removal equipment. via
