The National Capital Commission opened the downtown section of the Rideau Canal
Skateway on Tuesday morning, allowing users to skate from the Rideau Centre to
Lansdowne Park. The downtown stretch from the Rideau Centre to Somerset Street
opened just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, bringing the total length available to 4.6
kilometres. via
