When city council agreed to sink another $4.65 million into the botched Airport
Parkway pedestrian bridge almost a year ago, everyone was frustrated over the
lost time and money that was spent on this beleaguered project. Third-party
reviews had been ordered, court action taken, blame apportioned. Of all the
suggestions made about how to avoid the problems that plagued the Airport
Parkway bridge — which included a major design flaw — Mayor Jim Watson’s
