On the median of King Edward Ave., waist-high weeds blooming with nothing but
garbage tangle at the foot of towering sculptures of unfurling fiddleheads.
They're supposed to represent how nature sprouts indomitable amid asphalt. No
kidding. "It's a jungle of weeds," complained Marc Aubin, the past president of
the Lowertown Community Association whose campaign to represent Rideau-Vanier on
city council includes wielding a weed whacker as he vows to tackle the overgrown
and derelict properties and graffiti he says "ghettoize" neighbourhoods. via
