TransCanada PipeLines Ltd. is clarifying the terms of a donation made to the
Town of Mattawa that seemingly imposed restrictions on the municipality with
regard to what it can say about projects under construction within its borders.
The company donated $30,000 to the town in June to help the municipality
purchase a new fire rescue vehicle. The agreement to donate the money came with
a few caveats, including signage on the vehicle stating “Supported by
TransCanada,” permission for TransCanada to use pictures of the vehicle for
promotional purposes and recognition of TransCanada as a lead sponsor in the
town’s fire department fundraising materials. via
