Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz never has to worry about being up the
creek without a paddle – not after receiving a beautifully hand-carved walnut
one at Wednesday’s second annual Riverkeeper Gala.“Isn’t that beautiful,” Poloz,
the evening’s honourary riverkeeper, said while holding up his new gift for a
crowd of 228 partygoers to see at the Canadian Museum of History. Mariners and
landlubbers alike were back to enjoy another night of cruising and schmoozing on
the Ottawa River by boat. The gala, presented by Ernst & Young, raised
$125,000 for Ottawa Riverkeeper, a grassroots charity that works to protect,
promote and improve the health and future of the Ottawa River and its
tributaries. via
