In a rare move, Parks Canada is temporarily closing more than a dozen lockstations along the Rideau Canal, including in Ottawa, due to high water levels, producing headaches for some boaters across the region. The agency announced Sunday a number of lockstations will be closed to navigation, effective 4 p.m. on Monday, including: Hog’s Back, Black Rapids, Long Island, Burritts Rapids, Lower Nicholsons, Upper Nicholsons, Clowes, Merrickville, Kilmarnock, Edmonds, Old Slys, Smiths Falls Combined & Smiths Falls Detached. via Parks Canada temporarily closing lockstations on Rideau Canal due to high water levels | Ottawa Citizen.
