The City of Ottawa is making headway in the preservation and restoration of
Ottawa’s rivers and streams, albeit slow headway, says an environmental advocate
in anticipation of a new water strategy set to be presented to the city’s
Environment Committee on Monday. Phase 1 of the Water Environment Strategy WES
will deal with protecting the health of Ottawa’s watersheds.“ In 2010 the city
originally promised to finish this by 2012, but they’re late and there can be no
excuse,” says Graham Saul, Executive Director of Ecology Ottawa. He adds members
of his group are pleased to see the city is finally moving forward, but are
disappointed that the completion date is projected for 2015. via
